Event Rater Q&A with Dylan Ebenezer

Dylan Ebenezer (Twitter - @dylanebz / Instagram - @dylanebz) is an experienced broadcaster and has been covering Welsh sport for over 20 years. He started as a radio reporter and commentator with BBC Wales before becoming the face of Welsh football on S4C. He is the fan who stepped from the stands to the touchline and still brings his football boots…just in case he gets a call up. Dylan has also presented documentaries and even a quiz show! He has hosted many live events and is extremely comfortable in front of an audience.

Dylan can be booked via Haka Entertainment (Twitter: @hakaentertain / enquiries@hakaentertainment.co.uk) as an event Host/After dinner speaker/Compere/Auctioneer.

Dylan tells us about his event interests:

Q: What types of events do you usually attend?

A: Usually sport and music – games and gigs basically!

Q: What is the best artist/group you have ever seen live?

A: Super Furry Animals – I’ve seen them so many times over the years – each concert has been special – such a clever and creative band. SFA OK!

Q: Who are your favourite stand-up comedians?

A: I’m very fond of Stuart Lee – and in my element with Tudur Owen – there are a lot of stand ups in Welsh at the moment who are a bit 'hit or miss' – but, for me, Tudur Owen hits the right spot every time.

Q: Which sports do you enjoy seeing live?

A: I will watch anything really – but football is my obsession.I enjoy watching cricket occasionally - especially T20 – but I enjoy the social side of cricket more than the game!

Q: What is your favourite venue?

A: I still enjoy going to Clwb Ifor Bach – I don’t go ther much these days but it’s great seeing bands there. It is such a huge feeling of deja vu every time I walk up those stairs. I can pretend I’m 20 years old again!

Q: What type of theatre events do you usually attend? (e.g. drama, musicals, opera) / Which show is your all-time favourite production?

A: I will go to watch a play but I’m not one for musicals or opera. Pantos in Newport are an annual highlight – if only to seeRichard Elis dressed up as a girl! I still remember going to see 'House of America' by Ed Thomas towards the end of the 1990s ... I’m not sure whether that was my favourite production ever – but it left a huge impression on me.

Q: Who would be your three dream headline acts to perform at a festival?

A: Super Furry Animals (of course), Pulp and Tom Waits.

Q: Are there any events/artists that you would like to see that you haven't yet seen?

A: Tom Waits definitely – I am a huge fan but have never succeeded to see him live. As a football fan I have to say The Superclasico – the bonkers derby match between Buenos Aires - Boca Juniors and River Plate ... bring it on!
